SWIFT ENERGY COMPANY NEWSSWIFT ENERGY APPOINTS RAY GALVIN TO BOARD OF DIRECTORSHOUSTON, August 6, 2002 - Swift Energy Company (NYSE, PCX: SFY) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Ray Galvin to serve on Swift Energy Company’s Board of Directors at the meeting held Monday, August 5, 2002. R. E. “Ray” Galvin retired as President of Chevron U.S.A. Production Co., and a director and vice president of Chevron Corporation in February 1997. A native of Cisco, Texas he graduated from Texas A&M University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. Galvin began his career at Gulf Oil Corp. in 1953 and served in various engineering and management positions overseeing both domestic onshore and offshore operations and continued in senior management positions with Chevron for 12 years following the Chevron/Gulf merger in 1985. Galvin served as chairman of the Natural Gas Council and the Natural Gas Supply Association; on the executive committee of the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association and the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association; on the executive committee and as a board member of the National Ocean Industries Association; board member of the Gas Research Institute, Greater Houston Partnership and National Council for Minorities in Engineering; on the Houston Board of the Nature Conservancy of Texas; on the board of trustees of the Houston Museum of Natural Science; 1996 president Houston Spindletop and advisory director of Spindletop International; Fellow, External Advisory Council - College of Engineering - Texas A&M University; and a member of the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
