Robert J. Banks was appointed executive vice president and chief
operating officer of Swift Energy on February 14, 2008. In an earlier
position which he assumed on May 11, 2006, he served as Swift Energy’s
vice president for international operations and strategic ventures. He
joined Swift on February 9, 2004, as vice president of international
operations of the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Swift Energy
International, Inc., a position he still holds.
Mr. Banks has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry,
both domestically and internationally. He has held senior-level positions
and led international units for Mosbacher Energy Company, Kuwait Foreign
Petroleum Company, and Santa Fe International Corporation, and, just prior
to joining Swift, for Vanco Energy Company, where he served as executive
vice president for operations.
Mr. Banks’ assignments have involved work in 12 different countries,
including New Zealand, Indonesia, West Africa, and the North Sea, and have
included project management responsibilities for exploration, exploitation,
and development activities. Additionally, he has been responsible for
acquisition and development evaluation teams, as well as for strategic
planning, risk management and commercial management projects.
Mr. Banks received his B.S. degree in finance and economics in 1976 from
Penn State and has post-graduate work towards his MBA in international
studies at the University of Dallas.
