James M. Kitterman
Senior Vice President—Operations

 

James M. Kitterman has been senior vice president--operations of Swift Energy Company since 1993. In February 2000, he was named the Swift corporate officer responsible for the development of Swift's international operations, most specifically the drilling, construction, and production startup operations associated with the Company's late 1999 discovery in New Zealand. In earlier positions with the company, he was vice president--operations and vice president--drilling and production.

Mr. Kitterman has over 30 years experience in oil and gas exploration, drilling, and production and has worked for Swift Energy Company since 1983. From 1979 to 1982, he was president of Solar Petroleum Corporation, an oil and gas exploration company that also provided contract drilling services. From 1974 to 1979, he was employed by Houston Oil & Minerals Corporation in various drilling and production managerial positions, the last as Eastern Division Operations Manager. As drilling manager for Houston Oil & Minerals, he oversaw annual drilling budgets of $100-$150 million with up to 27 rigs per day in the field across the continental United States and in offshore waters. From 1966 to 1974, Mr. Kitterman held managerial and technical positions with Mitchell Energy, Universal Drilling and Engineering Consultants (UDEC), and Continental Oil Company. At Mitchell Energy, he was coastal district manager with responsibilities for the Gulf Coast and other southern areas, including offshore. At UDEC, he was vice president--operations.

During his career, Mr. Kitterman has engaged in international business activities in China, Eastern Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Venezuela, and Russia.

Mr. Kitterman is a graduate of Marietta College with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering. He also holds a master's degree in business administration from Pepperdine University. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a former chairman of the Houston Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute.
