SWIFT ENERGY COMPANY NEWSSWIFT ENERGY ANNOUNCES GENERAL COUNSEL APPOINTMENTSHOUSTON, June 9, 2003 - Swift Energy Company (NYSE, PCX: SFY) announced today that Laurent “Larry” Baillargeon has been promoted to General Counsel–Exploration and Production and that Karen Bryant has been appointed General Counsel–Corporate Governance and Assistant Secretary. Both are members of Swift Energy’s new Office of General Counsel, which is led by Wynn Ibach. Mr. Laurent “Larry” Baillargeon has served as Associate General Counsel since joining the Company in May of 2000. Mr. Baillargeon has 29 years of legal background in oil and gas, including exploration and production activities, land and legal contracts, and acquisitions and divestitures. Prior to joining Swift, he was employed with Petrocorp Inc. as Vice President, Corporate Land and General Counsel, and Senior Vice President and General Counsel with Yankee Oil and Gas, Inc. with additional legal tenures at Venus Oil Company, Tenneco Oil Company and Shell Oil Company and extensive private oil and gas practice in San Antonio. Mr. Baillargeon received a bachelor's degree from Assumption College, a Masters of Business Administration from Regis University and his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Vice Chairman – E&P Energy Section), American Corporate Counsel Association, State Bar of Texas, State Bar of Massachusetts, The College of the State Bar of Texas (Fellow), Houston Bar Association, American Association of Petroleum Landmen (CPL), Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL), and Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA). Ms. Karen Bryant, recently joined Swift Energy as General Counsel—Corporate Governance and Assistant Secretary. Ms. Bryant has 17 years of experience practicing law, specializing in federal securities law and general corporate law. Prior to joining Swift Energy, Ms. Bryant was with the law firm of Jenkens and Gilchrist, PC, where she was a Shareholder in the Corporate Securities Practice Group and with the firm for a total of eight years. Ms. Bryant has also served as Corporate Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary for MAXXAM, Inc and was an associate at Wood, Lucksinger & Epstein. She received her B.B.A. from the University of Houston and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Bryant is a member of the American Bar Association, Texas State Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association and Association of Women Attorneys.
