SWIFT ENERGY COMPANY 2000 ANNUAL REPORTDevelopment of Swift's Management Team
The foremost milestone achieved in 2000 that will shape the path of Swift’s future growth was the transition of the Company’s management team. Since its inception, Swift has strategically planned for the ongoing development of strong, forward-thinking leadership, which is the springboard for sustained success. Toward this end, the Company’s policy is to promote employees from within who have been instrumental in Swift’s past successes. The advantages of this policy were apparent in 2000 when two long-time executives retired, ending successful careers at Swift Energy. Virgil N. Swift, who remains vice chairman of the board of Swift Energy and chairman of the board of Swift Energy International, retired from his position as executive vice president, and John R. Alden retired from his position as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Following these retirements, the Company promoted several experienced officers, most of whom have been with Swift a decade or longer: · Terry E. Swift, president of Swift Energy Company, assumed the additional role of president of Swift Energy International, Inc. He first joined the Company in 1981. · Joseph A. D’Amico, who has been with the Company since 1988, was named chief operating officer and was promoted from senior vice president of exploration and development to executive vice president. · Bruce H. Vincent, who joined the Company in 1990, was promoted from senior vice president–funds management to executive vice president–corporate development and secretary. · Alton D. Heckaman, Jr., who has been with the Company since 1982, was promoted from vice president and controller to senior vice president and chief financial officer. · James M. Kitterman, senior vice president–operations, assumed additional responsibilities for Swift Energy International, including management of the drilling, construction, and production startup on the Company’s New Zealand permit area. He joined the Company in 1983. · Victor R. Moran, who joined the Company in 1992, was promoted from vice president–natural gas marketing/business development to senior vice president–energy marketing and business development. · Donald L. Morgan, chairman and president of Swift Energy New Zealand and executive vice president and director of Swift Energy International, assumed additional responsibilities related to New Zealand activities. He has been with the Company since 1994. · Thomas E. Schmidt, who joined the Company in 1987, was promoted from director of development to vice president–exploration and development. · David W. Wesson, who joined the Company in 1988, was promoted from assistant controller to controller. With this skilled and experienced management team in place, along with its other valued employees, Swift is destined to move forward in 2001 on its journey toward building further increases in shareholder value.
